Hi Guys!
This is my contribute to the danish steampunk fora Gears and Goggles. The theme was Easter and parody. I don't think the concept shines through, but its okay.
It's a parody in the sense that the girl is a Victorian explorer, and have just found the easter bunnys nest. Everybody wanted to be a scientist or a explorer in victorian time. (or most people dreamed of it).

NERF-gun made a little more steam
NERFguns, we all know them. Either we love them, or we do not. Why would a girl who has been fired with them in her childhood love such a terrible toy? Fortunately, this has not ruined my relationship with the "little" fine gun.
Well, since I am active in LARP you can not get out of these little devils. When I attended a Firefly LARP in the autumn of 2011, I had to adapt them to the universe. I did this with nothing but sandpaper, glue, saw and paint. You can do a lot more about them and I have a few lying around just to be painted.
Because Firefly is slightly more SciFi (Hmpf), you can easily use gadgets such as laser, etc. But I was practicing, so they are very simple.

Japanese doll in Victorian style
For about a year ago I found a pattern and a guide for a Japanese cloth doll. I already then set my mind to make this doll in a Victorian/steampunk look.
Except from the poorly translated page, it is an easy pattern with a good photo instruction.
So now, after 3 hours I’ve made the arms and legs. I really find it exiting to try out new stuff, and especially when I can use it for my passion: steampunk.
As I’ve already have told, I have a greater passion for liveroleplaying. This is also one of the reasons for this project. I am going to use it, for a character as a doll maker.
Further down is the homepage for the doll I am trying to make. You can find a PDF and try it out for yourself. Unfortunally is crafting items and fabric very expensive in Denmark. So this forces me to take up a new challenge. I will sew the cloth for doll in second hand clothing. A cheap and nature saving way of crafting.

The birth of my Collection
This is from Alexander maQueen spring 2007
As I promised earlier, I will know tell you a bit about my collection for The Scandinavian Steampunk Convention.
My leading idea is to use fabric from secondhand cloth and fabric. I will buy as little as possible at the fabric store, this is to keep the projects budget low. I’m not paid for making this collection.
The subject is easy. But how do you make something different in a limited world? My answer to this is, borrow where you can, without copying.

I looked on the internet for inspiration and found a lot of photos.
Out from these photos I extracted some leading colours for my collection:

Then I looked at some more photos. And wupti, I already have 2 pieces drawn down.
For every piece I make, I will make a matching doll with steampunk/Victorian clothing.
I already have 1 model, my big sister Sophie. She is petit and should wear a dress, which makes her look higher. Because I’m not a professional I can’t afford to be picky. So everyone in the size 34-40 is welcome to ask if they could be a model. My only wish is to see a well looking photography of them. You can post a link her at the blog if you are interested. There won’t be any paying. But I will think of something nice for my models :)
